The weather is hot, but the fish don't seem to mind! The water flows on Rapid Creek have dropped to 125 cfs, which is a nice improvement. 150 was fine, but the extra 25 cfs missing makes the fish considerably more likely to come up to the surface. There are a zillion hoppers around, especially in the basin! Dave had good luck with hoppers yesterday, and caught a few really nice browns. Rapid Creek through town is considerably better since the flows have dropped, and the fish are looking up. Tricos in the morning, caddis in the evenings, and terrestrials throughout the day. Morrish Hoppers, small Chubby Chernobyls, Hippie Stompers, and a number of beetle and ant patterns will keep you into the fish. The banks are definitely your best bet for fishing hoppers, so focus your efforts on the first 3 feet from the grass. If you're more of a dropper type of person, put a size 12-16 Jig Assassin or Hare's Ear and pick up a few bonus fish!
